Data processing

If you wish to support EMPAIA’s purposes through your membership, we will process your personal data for the purposes set out below.

1 Membership administration

When you become a member of EMPAIA we process personal data such as title, first and last name, date of birth, address, telephone number and e-mail address as well as bank account details. The aforementioned data will be used exclusively for the purpose of admission to EMPAIA, the implementation and administration of your membership. As part of your membership, we will send you information relevant to the association. The legal basis is article 6 (1) (b) GDPR. Without the provision of your data, admission to EMPAIA is not possible.

2 Newsletter

EMPAIA sends out a free electronic newsletter to all EMPAIA members. With the newsletter, we inform you about our professional association, our offers, news in the field of digital pathology and artificial intelligence as well as current EMPAIA events. We use your e-mail address to send you the newsletter. The legal basis is Art. article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The newsletter can be canceled at any time.

3 Committees

Your membership also includes opportunities to participate in committees. If you participate in these, we will pass on your contact details to the committee leaders. At the request of working groups, we pass on the contact details of members of the relevant committees to the working group leaders and their deputies. The legal basis is Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

4 Publication of data of functionaries

Personal data (portrait photo, title, first name and surname as well as place of work) of members who are functionaries in EMPAIA are published on our website (www.empaia.org) for reasons of transparency and for the purpose of external presentation and contact. The legal basis for publication of photos is consent in accordance with article 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Consent can be withdrawn at any time. In the event of withdrawal, the photo will be removed from the website. The legal basis for the publication of the remaining data is Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR.  If the member is no longer a functionary, the data will no longer be published on the website.

5 Publication of photos

For the purpose of external presentation, photos of EMPAIA’s members may be published on our website or in print media with your consent. You will be informed about this before participating in the respective event.

Storage period

Unless otherwise stated above, personal data will be deleted 10 years after termination of membership.

Your rights

As a data subject, you have the following rights:
